Took the bike for my first ride of the season to work this morning. Gotta enjoy it while I can because it looks like things may turn crappy next week. Can't believe it'll be nearly 80 tomorrow and Friday!!
another got-ya with migrating to Exchange 2007

If you're running an Exchange 2007 HUB/CAS (no '03 front-end) and still the '03 mailbox server you may run into an issue with meeting requests. In my experience, creating a new meeting request with an external contact goes through fine, but when it comes down to updating or sending a cancellation notice you may receive the following message:
Subject: Delivery Status Notification (Delay)
This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.
THIS IS A WARNING MESSAGE ONLY.
YOU DO NOT NEED TO RESEND YOUR MESSAGE.
Delivery to the following recipients has been delayed.
I believe this may also happen internally if working with a mixed email client environment. After some searching around I stumbled on this site explaining our same situation: http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/90915
Reading through it there seems to be an attribute missing in the request. The fix: a registry change.
Microsoft Article ID: 938650 - A meeting update message or a meeting cancellation message from an Exchange 2003 user is not delivered to an Exchange 2007 user

America's Most Underwater Housing Markets - finance.yahoo.com
10. Grand Rapids, Mich.
Real estate values in Grand Rapids, Mich., increased 15 percent from 2002 to 2005 and then fell about 13 percent through the third quarter of last year. As of the fourth quarter of 2009, roughly 29 percent of single-family home mortgages were underwater, according to Zillow. The weakness in the housing market is linked to the area's deteriorating economy, Chen says.

World Golf Tour has quite a few courses you can play online and it's free. Not only that, there's single player, multiplayer, and even tournaments. Pretty cool stuff!

Do you park like an asshole?
Posted by: Travis
You know, within two inches of the car next you and blantenly leave a big dent in the side of their car upon vacating the vehicle? Or park right next to a car who is purposly 1/2 mile back in the lot away from all vehicles? Well guess what, those on the receiving end may have a gift for you:
give a notice.
So you see somebody parking like an asshole eh? It’s pretty simple, print out one of the PDF files and slip it under their windshield wiper. No printer? No problem. Go get yourself a marker, pen, pencil, or dip a quill in some blood. Then write on a sheet of paper “youparklikeanasshole.com” (nice and bold) and that’s it!

Just got done washing the car and doing minor yard work. Due to the extra hours at work I'll have Thursday & Friday off so it'll be a good time to get out. On tap are: wash the car (again) and wax, dethatch the lawn, throw out crabgrass preventer on the lawn, hit the golf range and hopefully at least 9 holes of golf. Oh, and March madness starts Thursday too! The end of winter is in sight!!!!
Exchange 2007 migration process
Posted by: Travis
Step one completed last weekend. Step two completed this weekend. Two more steps to go. I'm seeing that it's all about the details. I was prepared for the majority, but there were a couple got yas that weren't expected. At least the first steps have been completed and, have been pretty successful. Now a bit of a breather so I can bring up the new US mailbox cluster and get our Exchange lab environment up.
Gotyas not expected:
- >10 mb attachments being sent by internal devices (scanners, for example)
- additional server rights for the BES service account (more than just the view-only admin rights on Exchange organization)
- password reset feature utilized that I didn't know about
- Postini AD syncing redesign
So, step three is our second smaller US location and finally the big boy...2000+ mailbox migration.

AHHHHH....Steam for Modern Warfare 2 is down too!

Oh the humanity!!!!! Hm, so does this mean that MW2 and BC2 are on the same cloud? If so I'd hate to be the guy that pulled the wrong cable.
DO NOT purchase Battlefield Bad Company 2 right now

Multiplayer was bad enough when the game was released, but it's even worse now. Had issues getting into games, seeing friends, and now I (along with a slew of other people) can't connect to ea online. STAY AWAY...at least until they work out the problems. EA + DICE = complete shit

Exchange 2007 Hub Transport server (front-end in '03 terms), Exchange 2003 mailboxes, and active sync
Posted by: Travis
So, I learned today that this doesn't work right from the box. You need to download and install a hotfix onto your '03 mailbox servers which allows Integrated Windows authentication to be turned on.
Event ID 1036 is logged on an Exchange 2007 server that is running the CAS role when mobile devices connect to the Exchange 2007 server to access mailboxes on an Exchange 2003 back-end server - KB937031 - Microsoft.com

planning on multiple Exchange 2007 servers in your environment?
Posted by: Travis
Make sure they're consistent with the same rollup pack because OWA proxying won't work! Background: I want to connect to a single OWA CAS server no matter where the mailbox is located in the organization...IE, I want proxying to work.
Started with this error:
Outlook Web Access is not available. If the problem continues, contact technical support for your organization and tell them the following: There is no Microsoft Exchange Client Access server that has the necessary configuration in the Active Directory site where the mailbox is stored.
This was because the secondary site CAS server didn't have the OWA authentication set to "Integrated Windows Authentication". Then I got this error:
Outlook Web Access is not currently available for the user mailbox that you are trying to access. If the problem continues, contact technical support for your organization and tell them the following: The Microsoft Exchange Client Access server that is proxying the Outlook Web Access requests is running an older version of Microsoft Exchange than the Client Access server in the mailbox Active Directory site.
This was due to the fact that the main CAS (used for proxying) was running rollup 8 for SP1 and CAS at the site with it's mailbox was running rollup 7. Downgraded the main to 7 and bing, we're working.
Wonder what else wouldn't have worked...
DON'T FORGET TO REBOOT THE SERVERS AFTER MAKING THESE CHANGES!!!! I forced AD replication, restarted IIS...I had to actually reboot the servers to see the new changes. Farted around with that for over an hour this morning!
ALSO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A CERT INSTALLED FOR THE CONFIGURED InternalURL ADDRESS.
